Malone 1st XV made the long journey south to Cork to play the students of University College Cork in a hard fought game in which Malone lost 6 players to injury the result saw the students win the match by a scoreline of 33-21.

Malone despite being riddled with injuries did rally towards the end scoring two late converted tries through Captain Neil Alcorn and Rory Campbell, but by then the damage had been done as the students had led at half time by 20-7. Malone’s only first half score came from a converted by Richard Millar, converted by Mark O’Connor

The 2nd XV again suffering from front row problems were away at Lisburn, they lost this game heavily by a scoreline of 47-0.

The 5th XV were due to play BHSFP however the High School were unable to field a team and the game didn’t take place.

The Malone Youth Section hosted Letterkenny at Gibson Park the result were as below:

The Malone U18’s lost 0-26
The Malone U16’s won 20-10
The Malone U14’s lost narrowly 7-12

So once again Malone seem to be suffering from a long injury list early into the start of the season. We hope that all these injured players make a full and speedy recovery.
