Good day for all youth teams, with 16s & 18s beating Randalstown and the 14s retaining the Finlay Porter Trophy.

A good day at the HOP for all youth teams on Saturday.

First up were the U18s with an edge of the seat thriller win against Randalstown by 10-8. This was a great performance from the guys after a mixed performance win against a schools players laden Instonian’s team of the previous week. The entire team stood up and were counted with bone crunching tackles, and ruck clear outs against the usual well drilled and big running Randalstown lads. They next play them in Feb and these two teams have slugged it out over the past 6/7 years so it should be an “interesting” final match.. to say the least!

Again, the mighty U16s (can someone change their superlative please…) ploughed their way through another league win. Although against another big Randalstown team, the Malone pack and backs saw off any challenge to comfortably run out winners against a competitive team by 49-5.

The U14s too had a thriller of their own, with a last minute try edging them home by 19-14 to retain the prized Finlay Porter Trophy

Full Match reports will be on team pages.
