Malone win well in Cork against Sundays Well.

Malone made it three back to back wins in the UBL to join 4th place Highfield on 27 points. Once again a solid platform in the front five ensured parity in the scrums against a strong Sunday's Well pack.

Full back Mark 0'Connor turned in a man of the match performance as he contributed 17 of his teams points.

Two penalties converted by O'Connor gave Malone a 6 - 0 lead after 10 mins. This was followed up by an intercept try from Nathan Brown to increase the Malone lead to 11 - 0. Injury then forced the experienced centre Mark McCrea from the pitch with Nathan Brown and Michael Cartmill reunited in mid field.
With no further scoring the halftime whistle left the Gibson Park hoping to build on their lead in the second half.

The team did not disappoint, adding 26 points with the Malone back row of Captain Neil Alcorn. Phil Lucas and Dave Cave putting in a big defensive effort along with centres Nathan Brown and Michael Cartmill. Lucas was particularly prominent with several carries.

The first of the teams four second half tries came from Mark O'Connor followed by scores from winger David Irvine, centre Michael Cartmill and replacement scrum half Conor Spence with O'Connor converting three. Sunday's Well did score an unconverted try to leave the Cregagh Road side 37 - 5 winners.

Next up are crucial games against Belfast Harlequins at Deramore and Blackrock College at Gibson Park. Two wins and the East Belfast side are back in the promotion race and the playoffs.

Four points separate leaders Nenagh Ormond, Banbridge, Queens Uni, Highfield and Malone with the Gibson Park side having played one game more.
