Friday evening and the weather was just plain awful. The rain was pouring day non stop and the match was touch and go. But the hopes and excitment was peaking so the match went ahead. Even though it was soaking wet, the girls played their very best. Ballymoney had that bit more experience, and it showed at times. Handling was good, which was surprising considering how much the rain hammered down.
Both teams fought for every inch, and the Malone girls where learning the whole time and at moments pressures where building on players who felt they should be doing more for their Malone team mates. Eventually after the first half everything calmed and the enjoyment took over, and so decent handling led to plenty of long runs and scores.
Malone may have lost in relation to points, but what they won in spirit, knowledge and comradeship was the real prize that night. Im glad to say all the girls really enjoyed themselves and thanks to Ballymoney RFC Ladies and Ballyclare RFC Ladies for making it a great friendly first match.
The Malone girls have made their line, now we cross it
