RWC FINAL DAY

Well it all started back in September, these teams were working their way to the competition finale. The date was 2nd Nov 2019 it was Rugby World Cup final day. The men in White against the Rainbow Nation. England v South Africa. Well that's about as exciting as it got.

Same date MEN in White against the opposition in multi colored tops,
Red patches, yellow stripes, green patch, sponsors name in violet nearly a rainbow. Would the result be the same. The answer was No. Malone props wouldn't have a snooze three minutes in, they would take ball in hand run straight as normal generally over the opposition, and score a try. The first try came from the lesser seen Eoin the back, the ball comes from Stewart having a dabble in ruck holding the ball up,(high it's mine and you can't have it)' turning and clearly thinking pass to Eoin it'll be brought back in with some straight running, but no Eoin wasn't in forward mode yet, he heads for the left wing swaps the ball into other hand. Hands of at least one and try is scored, good 10-15 meter run. My able assistant had it run from our own try line running past the opposition twice and scoring. Guess who his son is, Eoin said he should have passed to Nathan but wanted a try, fair one. Next Scrum down Ryan takes it of the back, and it was straight back to Wednesday night, Nathan is with him all the way, the ball comes inside to Callum and he cuts his way through until eventually brought down. Ball recycled and it going through the backs until someone is trying some sort of sleeper hold from WWE on Conor again ball recycled and into the hands of Lewis (it run straight week)bouncing players, handing off players and dragging them along for the ride, crosses the line and try number two is scored. Anyone would think they practice this stuff they were that slick. Malone props had turned up , Englands didn't. That's two of the front row let's talk about the third Matty, winning scrums and cracking line out throwing not to much work required to be done by our jumpers the accuracy making it simple. After substitution he was a massive critic of his own play, yeah I was surprised to, great effort through out and a real team player.
Second rows, Stewart has been running through the opposition like a hot knife through butter and scoring a try. He was challenging in the line out disrupting their ball. Between him and Matty the line out was ours. Then there is Ross working and running hard which is making everyone else's job easier, and some of those runs challenging for most yards gained by a forward and massive effort put in as always.
The back row, everything they were supposed to be tackling like demons running like mad men, Ryan looking like a waiter on speed weaving through the opposition with the ball in one hand, not sure he knows he has two hands once he starts running. Callum a tackling demon, not much getting past him, several darts of the side and ground made. Patrick again solid game challenging and working hard in the rucks and line out.
So onto the backs, Nathan, well cover your eyes he's got the ball from the line out, he's got the ball from the ruck he's got the ball at the back of the scrum, the back line is set OMG where is he going. He's past one, spun and that's two he's past, nearly every time. The opposition are now ganging up on him not just because of his size, they are not letting him through, he's being smothered, his hand drops a twist of the wrist and the ball is popped out straight into team mates hands. (This sort of thing happens too often for him to be lucky). Welcome back Tom fine display good running and tackling. You'll be watched more closely next week and reported back on, but looking good for another mention. Let’s move onto the centre pairing Conor and Timmy. Timmy gave some sweet kicking again no real shock there and good support play. Conor some good clean breaks and then we had the chip and chase. The ball is taken cleanly they’ve no real cover behind the line so the chip clean over the defensive line, now a wee step to the left and oops there is a fullback airborne without a parachute and he’s going to land late and hard unfortunately for the Malone score line, Conor was in the road and he was clattered to the ground. This incident brought no words of advice about jumping into the tackle from the referee (apparently but let’s see), this may have also generated a minor muttering about standard of refereeing. Refereeing to be mentioned later. Now out on the wings we had Theo and Darragh, Out of normal position we saw some fleet of foot from both the line was there regularly and both stayed the right side whilst the opposition attempted to push, drag, tackle and do whatever they could and it took a lot of effort and hard work on their part to be V occasionally successful. Darragh also had the decency to run a try in. Fullback Aaron he gave us all a OMG moment, what was he doing running it out from behind the try line. Fred Astaire was back in the game little bit of dancing this way and that and Malone back on their 22, some more solid team work and that was the end of the threat.
So now the impact players, Sam another strong all round performance throwing hooking all good some good carries as well. Jason well he was brought on as an impact player and I’m sure if you Inst players will admit he can impact on you. Well played.
Ok that tackle we all know F is for football but let’s not have the sliding tackles brought in. Yellow should have been a red. Refs decision. Inst coaches not happy with it, so well done Lewis for not flattening him.
Oh we forgot the coaches. Simon has a problem with ALL refs there may have been a forward pass that we all had to concede. Simon thought it was a bit tight. For anyone not on the side line please read the following a minimum of twenty times in an annoyed agitated voice. “So how do you start a maul YOU TACKLE HIM AND HOLD HIM UP, you know that”
Gary C wearing a T-shirt because of the hot flushes yeah that’s a hangover. Halftime wasn’t gather round it was bring the water here, but He’s a forward and hard as nails, well high ball coming in women and children around even a baby in the Pram and let’s not forget the baby who grabbed a parent to hide behind. Oh yeah Gary C that’s who.
There was a sterling card check done, but unfortunately no updates on the score.
