Sat the 5th Sept saw the start of some proper rugby for the under 16's, in our annual "pre" league training game.
It was decided to play 3 x 20 mins rather than the standard 2 x 30 to give both teams a chance to rotate players and analyse players strengths and weaknesses.
The weather was kind with a little sun and no breeze and the game was played in with great spirit from both sides. Possession was key and there were very few set pieces (scrums or lineouts) and this just shows how very tight the game was.
A worthwhile game for the coaches, for although we lost, (and I take full responsibility for that due to my "tinkering" with player positions in the last 20), but we learned a lot about individual player skills and positions and this can only stand the team in good stead going forward in the league proper on Sat 26th.
